Do the aligners really work?
Yes! OvernightSmile Aligners really work and have been proven in countless clinical studies to work effectively. In fact, all most all aligner systems work and have become the main way to straighten teeth in the last 10 years. Our patented orthodontic and treatment planning software and SmartMove® technology enable us to generate accurate 3D tooth movements and creates the quickest, safest path to straighter teeth.
We are different from other aligner companies in that our specialist team ensure we only take on cases that are 100% suitable for clear aligner cases. Some people may have more complex dental situations and require an orthodontist to treat this with in person visits. While this is a small minority of cases, it is very important for us to maintain the highest success rates so our team will let you know if you qualify for OvernightSmile® aligners during the free live consultation.
What are OvernightSmile clear aligners and how do they work?
OvernightSmile’s clear aligner treatment comprises multiple sets of precisely fitted, custom-crafted clear plastic trays that are free from BPA. Each tray is slightly closer to the your ‘perfect smile’ so every time you change a tray, your teeth slowly and safely move a little closer to the perfect position.
This entire process is meticulously planned in advance by a registered dentist or orthodontist affiliated with OvernightSmile, who thoroughly evaluates your case. You’ll start wearing a new set of aligners as per the schedule, progressively moving toward your desired smile. We simplify the process by conveniently delivering your aligners directly to your doorstep.
How long will it take for me to get my aligners?
Once you’ve sent back your impression kit you will receive your treatment plan within 24 hours! Once you have approved this, it takes us only 7 DAYS to make your clear aligners and we will ship it straight to you (most aligner systems take 4-6 weeks to do this!).
How long do I need to wear them for?
Our aligner system is designed with flexibility in mind. You can get great results from only 14 hours wear per day (that means while you sleep and a few hours before bed). However, the longer you wear them per day, in general, the faster you will achieve the desired result.
Can I wear them just at night?
Yes! Our aligner system is designed with flexibility in mind. You can get great results from only 14 hours wear per day (that means while you sleep and a few hours before bed). However, the longer you wear them per day, in general, the faster you will achieve the desired result.
What materials are used to make OvernightSmile clear aligners?
Our aligners are crafted from a sleek and comfortable plastic material that is BPA-free, ensuring that they won’t cause irritation to your cheeks and gums, as is often the case with traditional metal braces.
Will OvernightSmile aligners work for me?
We use a Live consultation with dentists and clinical specialists for all new customers, to always make sure we select the right patients who will have successful treatment, this is how we differ from other aligner companies, a lot of whom, will take on anyone and this is why we have the highest success rate by far.
Our clear aligners are designed to fix and straighten moderate cases of crowding, spacing, overlaps, single gaps and can widen your smile to give you a fuller smile. If you have more complex issues our team will recommend you seek in-person treatment with an orthodontist.
Will I have check-ups / check-ins with a dentist?
Our professional team of registered dentists and orthodontists will ask you to check-in (usually once every 4 weeks, but this can vary) to check on your progress and advise you. However our team are always available and you can get in touch 24/7 via the website livechat.
Can I use OvernightSmile to straighten my teeth before composite bonding or veneers?
Yes, you can use OvernightSmile aligners to straighten your teeth before composite bonding or veneers, if this was recommended or is needed. Aligning your teeth with OvernightSmile clear aligners can provide a foundation for enhancing your smile further with cosmetic dental treatments like composite bonding or veneers.
If I have a tooth removed, or a wisdom tooth extracted, how long do I have to wait before I can have aligners?
While this can vary, the general recommendation is 4-6 weeks but this depends on how difficult the tooth extraction visit was. The dentist who performed the procedure will be the best person to advise you on how long to wait.
Do I need to have any dental work done before I can have clear aligners?
We are excited for you to begin the OvernightSmile journey, but everyone must have visited a dentist in the last 6 months before beginning OvernightSmile aligners. If any new issues have developed or if you are unsure, it is important you visit your dentist for a full checkup before starting.
Will OvernightSmile work for me if I have implants?
White other aligner companies do take on clients with implants, we feel that this can sometimes make treatment more complex and recommend that you visit an in-person orthodontist if you have implants.
Can I have OvernightSmile aligners if I have missing teeth?
In general having missing teeth will not stop you from using OvernightSmile aligners, but this will be reviewed case by case at your live consultation.
Can I have aligners if I have a bonded retainer?
You can take impressions with your bonded retainer still in place but you will need to have your bonded retainers removed once you receive your aligners, and before you start your treatment.
Are OvernightSmile aligners safe to wear if I’m pregnant?
We recommend waiting until you’re not pregnant to start treatment with any aligners.
Can I use OvernightSmile aligners if I have veneers, crowns or composite bonding?
Veneers and Crowns : Yes! Aligners can move teeth with veneers and crowns as long as they are well fitted, but on some occasions taking the aligner in and out many times can loosen the glue between the veneer/crown and the tooth. OvernightSmile cannot be held responsible if this happens and you should see your local dentist for assistance with this.
Composite Bonding : Composite bonding is generally a lot more fragile than crowns or veneers and depending on how much of your tooth or teeth are covered by the composite bonding we would advise you to consult with our live-chat clinical team first and your dentist before going ahead with treatment. This is the same with all aligner systems. Taking the aligner in an out many times can loosen the composite bonding from the tooth. OvernightSmile cannot be responsible if this happens and you should see your local dentist for assistance with this.
Why are the aligners so well-priced compared to other aligner systems?
At £799, we are by far the most affordable professional aligner system and by a big margin in comparison to other aligner systems, such as SmileDirectClub at £1739 and Invisalign which ranges from £3,000 to £5,000. The key to our competitive pricing lies in our 15 years of experience supplying aligners to dentists, our advanced AI technology as well as our dedicated team of dentists and orthodontists.
We’ve streamlined the process by eliminating the need for in-person visits, allowing us to maintain a no-frills approach focused on quality and amazing outcomes, rather than relying on gimmicks.
Unlike some aligner companies, we exclusively produce aligners and don’t create or sell other products and we are highly selective with our cases, ensuring that we only accept individuals for treatment who are genuinely likely to achieve successful results. In contrast, many other aligner providers may take on a broader range of cases without assessing the complexity of each patient’s needs.
What is a mould or impression?
A mould or impression, is a special putty material that you place in a tray and push over your teeth to get a snapshot of your teeth, their position and all the small details. How easy is it to take the mould or impressions with your home impression kit?
Taking impressions with our home impression kit is designed to be straightforward and user-friendly. We provide clear instructions and support to ensure you can easily and accurately create the mould of your teeth from the comfort of your own home.

Does a registered dentist or orthodontist review my case?
Does a registered dentist or orthodontist review my case?
Yes, your case is carefully reviewed by a registered dentist or orthodontist affiliated with OvernightSmile. We have a network of international dentists and orthodontists. They will assess your impressions and create a treatment plan tailored to your specific needs, ensuring you receive the best possible care.
Can I view what my expected results will be before I purchase?
Yes! Our treatment plan that we provide free for anyone who has taken an impression with our kit is a 3D before and after of your teeth so you can see exactly what is changing and how your teeth will move into their perfect position, before you purchase our aligners.
How long is the typical treatment process?
Normally for simple to moderate cases 3-6 months but this can vary. It also depends on how good you are at consistently wearing the aligners. When we design your treatment plan, the amount of movement needed will tell us how long your plan will be and this will be on the treatment plan you receive, so you will know before you decide to go ahead/pay for treatment
Can I straighten only my upper or lower teeth?
It’s possible and we will give recommendations but in general we always recommend you move both upper and lower so they fit together well in your bite when your treatment is finished. *The price for upper only or lower only is no different to upper and lower.
Are there any small tools or accessories I can use to help me during treatment?
Your aligners will come with the following to help you out during treatment :
Aligner Remover : A small plastic hook to help you take your aligners off. A lot of people do not need this but if you have long nails this can help you to prevent any damage to your nails.
Chewies : Chewies are small rubbery tubes that you can chew and bite on just to help you push the aligners tightly over your teeth.
How long should I wear my aligners?
We advise you to wear your aligners between 14-22 hours a day. Our technology allows for considerable movement with only 14 hours wear – however, the longer you wear the the aligners the quicker you will achieve your desired result.
When can I change aligners?
Our aligners should never be worn for less than 14 days per aligner. Your teeth need this time to move successfully and safely.
Do I need to keep my aligners when I finish a set?
Yes, you must keep all your aligners until your treatment is done and you have your retainers. If one gets lost or damaged, or if you have any issues with fit, we may ask you to go back to a previous set. Just put used aligners back in their original packaging for safekeeping.
When should I take the aligners out? What should I do before I put them back in?
You should take your aligners out to eat and to brush your teeth. After you eat, you can simply rinse your mouth, remove any food debris and put them back in, however some people like to brush their teeth before they put the aligners back in (this is not absolutely necessary but you must do what fits with your lifestyle).
You can drink with the aligners in and our aligners are clinically tested to be very stain resistant but you can also remove them for hot and dark drinks if you feel more comfortable.
Will my teeth hurt during treatment?
After wearing new aligners, some people feel tooth soreness for a few days. It’s normal and shows your aligners are working. It usually goes away after a few days.
What should I do if my aligners don't fit correctly?
As you finish each set of aligners, you should notice that your teeth align perfectly with the aligners, leaving little to no gaps. This means you’re making progress! However, if you reach the end of an aligner set and still notice a lot of misalignment between the aligners and your teeth’s actual positions, please contact our support team via the website livechat.
Is it okay to skip aligner sets?
We strongly recommend against it! Your aligners are carefully calibrated to move your teeth at the ideal pace, neither too slow nor too fast. If you ever experience issues with the fit of your aligners at any stage, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with our team through the live chat on our website.
What happens if I lose or break an aligner?
If you lose or break an aligner, contact our customer support team immediately. We will guide you based on your situation and arrange for a replacement. While you’re waiting for your replacement aligner, please wear the previous one so you don’t lose progress.
What if I feel sick, unwell or have a dental emergency?
For medical emergencies, always contact your doctor or emergency services depending on the severity. For dental emergencies, contact your local dentist or your local dental emergency service.
Can I have dental work done during my aligner treatment?
During the course of your aligner treatment, anything except essential-for-health dental work is strongly advised against. This generally applies to all aligner systems. A procedure as simple as a filling or a crown or veneer can change the shape of the tooth, meaning that the aligners will not fit correctly from that point forward. If urgent work is needed please contact the website live-support team who will guide you in regards to the aligners.
How do I keep my teeth straight after treatment?
Unlike other aligner systems, we provide one set of retainers completely FREE! (These normally cost £80-£200). The best way to keep your teeth straight after treatment is to wear your retainers every night while you sleep. Replace them every six months to keep them fresh.
What are retainers?
Retainers are custom-made dental devices, usually in a slightly thicker material than the aligners, designed to maintain the newly aligned positions of your teeth after completing clear aligner treatment. They help prevent your teeth from shifting back to their original positions, ensuring your smile stays beautifully aligned. Retainers are an essential part of post-treatment care to preserve your results.Unlike other aligner systems, we provide one set of retainers completely FREE! (These normally cost from £80-£200)
How do I know when to change my aligners?
You should change your aligners every 2 weeks. There are lots of apps and reminder systems (we usually encourage you to set a 2 week reminder on your phone) but we know everyones life and schedules are different so these reminder systems are never 100% accurate. In general they should start to feel looser at the end of the two weeks, however sometimes they do not. If you are unsure, please contact your 24hr support specialist on the website livechat.
